Happy Summer! We're already mid-way through the season... can you believe it?? Summers especially seem to go by quickly - and what better season to celebrate yourself and slow things down a bit? This is a reminder in self-love for those who feel like ditching work for a lay in the sun, for those who want to go on a cooking-hiatus and eat popsicles for dinner, and for those who are packing for a summer trip. Now is the perfect time to show yourselves a little extra kindness. Here are a few suggestions.
My mother is a strong woman and is someone I look up to dearly. These are her words of which I will carry with me my entire life. I hope you're able to spend some time with the women in your life today; Happy Day, to you and yours. Any gems of advice you'd like to share from your own mother, sisters, girlfriends, aunts, cousins, or co-workers? I'd love to hear in the comments.
Kindness is contagious; the world is in dire need of it right about now. It's been a week and a half since the election and people are still feeling scared, hopeless, and fiery. "Hate" is being muttered more than "love" these days, so let's take the initiative to spread the love. Here are a few suggestions
One year ago today, I lost a dear friend. The world lost a beautiful, fun-loving, talented soul. She was kind, honest, and grateful – no matter what life threw at her. She was funny as the day is long and unbelievably generous. Light emanated from her smile. There was no reason she should have gone, but she was taken from us anyway.
Noticing the lives of others will instantly make you feel more sane. My favorite places to gaze? Airports. Driver Seats. Into office buildings. These are the places where people's guards come down and you're able to see someone for who he is. Take some time to daydream about a stranger's life.
This week, be kind to yourselves. Carve out some time after work one night to find inspiration through entertainment: beautiful magazines & eye-catching cinematography. If you're ridiculously spent (like I am), I suggest you grab a delicious beverage from your nearest coffee shop and pick up a beautifully designed magazine to bring to a quiet, comfortable place.
